Golden Sands, Nessebar, Sunny Beach, Sozopol

       Nowadays, Nessebar is one of the most popular resorts among foreign tourists for its ancient spirit and well-preserved remains.

According to legends, the churches of Nessebar were no less than 41, which, when compared to the small population of the town, make the latter one of the world's settlements with the highest number of churches per capita. One of the oldest sanctuaries is the Basilica built on the coast most probably around the beginning of 5th century. The Old Bishop's Residence located in the centre of the town is probably the most impressive church in Nessebar. It is more than 25m long and 22m wide while its three naves were decorated with a colonnade and arches. St. Ivan the Baptist Church was built much later, in the 11th century, and is a typical cross-domed church with three naves, and four columns supporting the dome. The St. John Aliturgetos Church perching high above the harbour is considered to be the most beautiful one........  

Sozopol is one of the oldest Bulgarian coastal towns. Founded in 610 BC by Miletian Greeks. Today this charming place is a popular beach resort best known for its casual ambience, two sandy beaches, and distinctive 19th-century stone and wood houses, some 45 of which are national cultural monuments. While Sozopol is extremely busy during July and August, in the off-season it reverts back to a sleepy fishing village and is a favored stop of artists and writers.

A stroll along the old town's twisting, narrow cobblestone lanes reveals a host of National Revival-era houses, their stone foundations and overhanging upper stories of weathered wood topped by Mediterranean-style red-tiled roofs. Sea-facing Morski Skali and Milet streets are lined with small restaurants and cafes, ideal for taking in the views while digging into a plate of tasty locally-raised midi (mussels).

The small harbor is a good place to watch fishermen off-load their catches to waiting buyers from area restaurants. 

A few kilometers further south is the Ropotamo river nature reserve.

Located in a picturesque and environmentally-clean bay in the Northern part of the Black Sea Coast, only 18km separate the Golden Sands resort from Varna. The beach strip in the resort is 3,5 km long, up to 100 m in places, and is known as one of the best sand beaches in Europe. It is flat, covered with fine golden sand. The sandy sea bottom gently slopes into the sea, there are no rocks or sudden drops. The clean and calm waters of the sea with low salinity lower than that of the Mediterranean for example, and the absence of fish and animals dangerous to human health, are ideal for scuba diving and vacationing with children. Golden Sands tourist complex covers a territory of 177,13 hectares. Thus the larger part of the park is preserved in its natural state, untouched by human hand.
