Bansko is situated 160 kilometers away from Sofia and is the resort, having the best and most modern ski centre of all Bulgarian ski resorts. During the recent years a there has been made multi-million euros investment in a brand new skiing area. Bansko has the best snow record and a long ski season (15 Dec - 15 May). Pamporovo, the pearl of all Bulgarian mountain resorts, is situated in the heart of the Rhodopi Mountains, 260 km from the capital Sofia, 85 km south of Plovdiv and 15 km from Smolyan. One day on the ski runs of Pamporovo is enough to get you a lovely sun tan, as its name of one of the sunniest mountain resorts in Bulgaria is well deserved – here the sunny days of the year are more than 240. The climate is mild, with strong Mediterranean influence. The average year temperature is 8,5°Ð¡, and the thickness of the snow layer is 140 – 150 cm. The resort altitude is 1 650 m, with its highest peak being Snezhanka – 1 926 m. Neither the extreme weather changes, nor the avalanches are typical for Pamporovo, and in this way your peace and safety during the holiday are guaranteed.

Borovets is the biggest international mountain resort in Bulgaria. Lots of world ski championships were organised here. It is located at 1350 above the sea level on the northern slopes of Rila mountain among age-old pine woods, at the foot of peak Mousala (2925 m) the highest one on the Balkan peninsula. Borovets is easily accessible, being at a distance of 73 km from Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) and 126 km from Plovdiv.
Borovets was developed into a modern ski resort of high class with luxury hotels, restaurants, discos, shops and of course an excellent network of ski runs and lifts along the slopes of the mountain. It is a resort of Alpine type and provides excellent opportunities for a whole range of winter sports-Alpine sports, cross-country skiing, ski jumps and biathlon. The resorts has twice hosted World Cup Alpine skiing rounds. Its biathlon track is one of the best in the world. The slopes of Borovets have a permanent snow cover from November to May, more than 1.5 m thick. The air in Borovets is crystal - clear and free of any pollutants. |
